Wellington Brass Band is renowned for its innovation, versatility and passion and currently has three active ensembles performing in numerous engagements in various shapes and forms.

Wellington is recognised as one of the most dynamic and progressive bands of the world.

With numerous contesting accolades internationally,
Wellington Brass is a finalist in the 2022 Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards, in recognition of our presence on the arts and culture stage in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

Our community are proud supporters of their band. As well as playing alongside our national orchestra and accompanying choirs, Wellington Brass is an important cultural asset to Wellington. From leading the Victoria University Graduate Parades to celebrating ‘A Very Welly Christmas’. Wellington Brass is out and about, performing at the Garden’s Magic, CubaDupa, the NZ Oktoberfest, and many more occasions in our Cultural Capital.

Wellington Youth Brass Band

This programme is directed by the highly accomplished euphonium player and teacher, Byron (Buzz) Newton.

Features 2 inclusive ensembles for
up-and-coming brass and percussion players with any level of experience, from beginners up.

To encourage and develop the enthusiasm of young musicians, we help by providing an instrument along with personal tuition. 

Wellington Brass Youth Band works as an engaging and inspiring introduction to music that begins with the commitment to foster and encourage young peoples' developing talent.

On the contest stage, Buzzing Brass Wellington Youth performs in the D and Youth Grade sections.

Meetings occur every Sunday at 4.30pm during the school term.
